Job Description

Position Summary: Position is a results-driven salesperson who provides recruitment, job training, job development, placement, and retention services to 3 types of customers: Vocational Funders, Job Seekers, and Community Employers. Expectation is to secure a minimum number of job placements per year reasonably established by supervisor and contractual obligations.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

MARKETING

  • Seek and secure paid community employment for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
  • Use a variety of employment placement techniques, including Rapid Job Search, Customized Employment, Supported Employment, and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) as needed.
  • Conduct daily outreach to employers by phone, email, and/or in person.
  • Assist clients in completing job applications, making follow up calls, and preparing for interviews with prospective employers.
  • Schedule meetings with hiring managers that lead to client jobs.
  • Advise employers on disability-hiring and retention best practices.
  • Secure permissions, write, and promote agency job placement success stories.
  • Actively participate in relevant networking groups and committees.

 

INTAKE

  • Promote agency placement services to vocational funders. Build new relationships with vocational funders and expand on existing relationships.
  • Recruit new job seekers into Employment Services Department.
  • Create/maintain referral relationships which may include (1) high school transition departments, (2) transition councils, (3) community based agencies, (4) colleges and universities, and (5) local government.
  • Work from assigned client caseload to track individual progress.

 

 

 

JOB TRAINING

 

  • Provide job readiness, job evaluation, job training, and job retention services in individual and group settings as assigned. Track client progress.
  • Provide time-limited transitional job opportunities as assigned.
  • Identify/conduct lean job coaching services as needed.

 

REPORTING

  • Comply with all agency and funder reporting and billing requirements by deadlines.
  • Participate in client/funder staffing progress meetings.
  • Communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and customers to relay information in a timely, cooperative manner.

UNITY

  • Operate as a sales force/team while still maintaining individual caseload placement accountability.
  • Provide ASL services as it relates to employment for the department.
  • Responsible for following all agency policies.
  • Provide client services in alignment and support of Employment First best practices.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting recent and individual sales goals
  • 1 year of high volume and verifiable sales experience (for new hires and internal candidates)
  • Comfortable making frequent sales calls
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be self-directed, able to work remotely and in office setting
  • Ability to shift between multiple priorities
  • Principled optimism: genuine belief in (1) abilities of job seeker, (2) responsibility to empower job seeker, and (3) fulfillment of good outcomes

Nonessential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in recruitment capacity
  • For-profit business experience
  • Recent record of volunteer service
  • Proven success in a remote worker capacity
  • Disability awareness background, including familiarity with the ADA, reasonable accommodation process, and vocational rehabilitation best practices.

  • Driving Requirements: Must have valid drivers license, proof of insurance, clean driving record, and able to drive own vehicle for high volume of sales visits. Track mileage for reimbursement purposes.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Geographic Area: Scope of position covers entire Chicago metropolitan area.
  • Schedule: 100% FTE (40 hours per week). Hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00 PM, however may require some evening and weekend work to accommodate the employment needs of clients or industry related events. Work-life balance needs will be taken into account on a case by case basis.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid/NCI and participate in any other trainings deemed mandatory or relevant by the agency.
